Established in 1984, Simpson & Wood Ltd has built up an enviable reputation for providing quality workmanship at competitive prices.

We are electrical contractors offering a wide variety of electrical services including installation, electrical engineering, electrical wiring, maintenance and repair to industrial, commercial and domestic clients.

We are an approved contractor with the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting. We are also recognised by the Part P scheme as a registered electrical installer and are a member of the Electrical Contractors Association.

Some History

The two directors of Simpson and Wood Ltd are John Simpson and Charles Wood. Both served recognised electrical apprenticeships in the contracting industry at York and Malton respectively. During this period, both gained experience in a wide variety of contracts, including work for Breweries, steel processing, quarry and feed manufacturing plants.

Commercial undertakings began for schools, hospitals, banks, offices and shops as well as domestic wiring/rewiring of properties large and small. In the early 1970s, both joined a large glass manufacturing company where further experience was gained in a continuous process industry. This included motor drives up to 300 kilowatts and associated process control systems including PLC's. Simpson and Wood came into being in 1984 with the recession biting and the closure of the glass manufacturing facility imminent.
